Extreme Home Makeover has captured the imagination of America, it seems: "Trading Spaces" on Steroids. Without the work. or the trading.
There is a serious problem with the show, and it's more than just the fact that it's a gigantic commercial for Sears...
The middle class, as we are noting everywhere today, is under serious attack. Hunter asked to frame the "New Contract on America," and as I mentioned in the thread, I think the only fitting frame is "Wolves at the Gate." That says it for me, I can feel them, and I'm scared. A lot of people would be, too, if they were aware...
Enter "Extreme Home Makeover." This is a touching show about hope; it's about giving families in need the things they need to survive. And then some.
Oh, and then some more. In fact, let's poor it on. Let's lavish these people with so much luxury that almost EVERYONE will be envious, and want to run out to Sears to do the whole thing themselves.
But the truth is, FAMILIES IN NEED ARE GETTING SCREWED BY THE NEO CONS DAILY. But pumping out lottery fiction like this show gives people hope and keeps the truth one step further away from being realized.
ABC is, of course, part of the conspiracy. It's funny that they'll pump out this smoke screen and on the same day basically ignore Buffet's comments about a "sharecropper society."
It's a ruse, and they're going to keep everyone's blinders on until it's too late.
