...and honestly, the price is pretty reasonable.
13 Democrats voted for cloture (to end the debate) today on the 2005 Republican Moral Bankruptcy Act, a despicable act which does nothing to address the root cause of most bankruptcies (medical costs), does nothing to prevent the wealthy from sheltering most of their assets to avoid bankruptcy, and does nothing to protect investors from the often seen tactic of the first year of Bush's presidency, corporate officers raidng company coffers shortly before declaring bankruptcy (Enron, Worldcom, Adelphia, and Tyco, to name just a few).
(More Below).
This is a despicable bill that will effectively make many menbers of the poor and middle class little more than indentured servants of MBNA, JPM Chase, etc.
It's to be expected that Republicans are little more than high priced whores to corporate America, but Democrats deserve better.
Just to let you know how cheaply these Democrats sold the people they supposedly represent (ordinary working people) down the river. Here are the names, along with the amount of money accepted from the Finance/Credit Company Industry since 1990:

One bit of good news. I think we can put an end to this ridiculous Biden '08 talk.
Anyhow, this bill will pass the Senate, probably intact, within about 36 hours.
