Where are our priorities? In 2006, the Senate could very well become a 60-40 seat Republican majority meaning that the policies of GWB will not end in 2008 but continue for many decades. One would think that all our efforts should focus upon making sure this doesn't happen -- getting rid of Republicans and protecting Democrats in danger of defeat, not purging the party of Senators who are not liberal enough to our liking.
A lot of good could come out of a blog. But instead of focusing on Republicans and keeping the Senate from becoming a 60-40 Republican majority, DailyKos is more focused on Lieberman than any Republican.
Some statistics:
The number of stories about the following VULNERABLE 2006 Senate candidates that have appeared on the cover page since the 2004 election:
Santorum (R) - 7
Chafee (R) - 7
Burns (R) - 3
Nelson (D - both combined) - 5
Cantwell (D) - 2
Stabenow (D) - 1
How many negative front page articles about Lieberman?
Lieberman (D) - 21
Twenty-one. That's right. 21 articles against Lieberman, who is considered SAFE. This number does not count snarky anti-Lieberman comments that have appeared on the front page, but have little to do with the headline (i.e. Sunday talk show threads, for example). If I did, the number would be even higher.
Many, like myself, have been concerned that resources are being pulled from Senate races where Republicans are vulnerable and where Democrats are vulnerable in order to challenge Lieberman. Others have said that isn't the case. Looking at the numbers alone, yes, it's the case.
Why is this happening? Where is DailyKos's priorities??? Since kos has shown in the 2002 elections and the 2004 elections that he has trouble flexing the mighty muscles of the blog to take down Republicans, he's turned on Democrats. Pardon me, but I know who the true disloyal Democrat is.
(Yes, that last paragraph has been posted by me elsewhere, but since kos seems to be repeating the same ol' anti-Lieberman dribble over and over again, I figure reposting my five-line snarky wake-up call is fair game.)
