This is a letter I composed, and sent to my Congressman Lamar smith. For those of you who don't know Lamar Smith he is the one appointed to the ethics commission by Tom Delay after he removed the board members with the balls to stand up to his disgusting behavior. Funny thing is Lamer gave Tom delay $5000 for his defense fund. So he actually paid hammerhead Tom ( his eyes are on the side of his head like the inbred hick that he is) to defend himself from Lamer, who is the ethics council leader!!! Whatta racket.
oh yeah I also sent it to my local newspaper just in case rep smith decides to ignore it.
All us Texans aren't inbred knuckleheads:)
An open letter to representative Lamar Smith
Congressman Smith. I am writing you today as a concerned citizen of the 21st district from Buda Texas . I have supported your candidacy and voted for you in the last two elections, and would like to continue to do so. I am concerned however about the current state of affairs with the current leader of the house republicans, Tom Delay. I am asking for you to take a lead in asking for rep. Delay's immediate resignation.
Mr. Delay's activities as a member of congress and his use his office in order to gain personally are abhorrent. The fact that he was rebuked by the congressional ethics committee including the republican members last session: and The fact that he has taken trips paid for by not only lobbyists, but by foreign agents, and then voted for legislation that enriches those people is not only disgusting, but should be criminal, and is against the best interests of Texans, and the American people. The fact that he uses money from "supposed" legitimate conservative groups is suspect. Laundering money through these groups from business lobbyists with legislation before him, last time I checked was also illegal in Texas , and basically that is what these groups are doing. For Mr. Delay to insist that he does not know where the money came from is disingenuous at best, and if his history is any indication is a bald-faced lie. His personal friendship and monetary support from a person currently under investigation by the justice department, and the Bureau of Native American affairs for massive fraud and theft, Mr. Jack Abramoff, should be FULLY investigated by the ethics panel of congress. These are only a few of the numerous examples of Mr. Delays ethical and moral lapses.
(Don't get me started on allowing his own daughter too hot-tub in Las-Vegas with a bunch of lobbyists in order to reward them for their monetary support)
Unfortunately not only Mr. Delay but you personally thought that the most pressing issue facing congress and the American people in these trying, and dangerous times, was to pull back on ethics requirements for congressmen. That is the only thing which can be inferred by the fact that it was the first item that was brought to the floor in this session by the Republican controlled congress. Also the fact that the Republican representatives on the congressional ethics board, who voted to admonish Rep Delay for his unethical behavior last session were replaced by members who not only benefited from moneys gathered by Mr. Delay, but have personally donated to his defense fund. I believe you have given $5000 to his defense fund, and have been given a position of power on the ethics commission? So you gave $5000 to Rep Delay, to defend himself from you?? Does this make any sense ? I ask you to immediately remove yourself from the board, and ask for the immediate placement on the board of those Republicans who were honorable enough to look beyond partisan politics, and were rewarded by being ousted by Mr. Delay.
Mr. Smith I believe that you understand the difference between what is right, and what is wrong, and now is the time to set aside partisan politics, and do what is right not for you party or your monetary supporters, but what is right for Texans, and Americans. If you decide however to continue to defend an ethically, and morally challenged person such as Mr. Delay, one then can only infer that you approve of and possibly benefit from this type of behavior. I for one do not support men who act in such a dishonorable and dishonest manner, nor those who condone it, and will work my hardest to insure that they will not continue to represent my family, friends, and colleagues interests in the United States congress.
Respectfully,
Paul Hodges
