Special Report with Brit Hume aired a segment tonight, for no real apparent reason, on Senator Joseph Biden. It appears as if while in Afganistan, Senator Biden was photographed naked carrying a bucket of water to the camp's only shower [not
exactly sure of this, as the segment went by very quickly. Hopefully
Crooks and Liars will get the video.] by a soldier. Brit Hume happily reported that, when contacted, Senator Biden's only comment was that he was "just glad they didn't put it on the internet."
All I can say is WTF?!
more below
As [hopefully] you all know, Senator Biden is ranking member of the Foreign Relations Committe, which is currently involve with the process of deciding on the President's appointee to the UN Ambassadorship of John Bolton.
If you've been under a rock, or possibly a hippie liberal drug trip [as all hippies are liberals and of course, liberals use drugs and hippies are commies, so by proxy...you get the picture], the nomination has come over extreme scrutiny over allegations of abuse and, well, plain old craziness. As the reality based community would think, Democrats have been resisting the nomination, much to the shagrin of Senator Dick "Ram-it-Home" Lugar, Republican chair of the committee. As well, to say it mildly, the Bush White House is PO'd.
There, with background finished, back to the "Biden Got Naked" story.
Again, I say, WTF.
It took about 3.276 seconds to figure out that this was a pretty lame attempt at marginalizing Biden. The man leading the charge on the needed vetting of the US representative at the United Nations is now the butt of naked jokes?
Before you tell me I'm overreacting, consider how many times FoxNews showed Bush choking on a pretzel. [I really don't know the #, but I'm guessing its zero.] Why would they? It's embarassing, and the Bush PR machine really doesn't like that. Just look at what they do with bad news. [Republican answer: There isn't any.]
The only purpose of that 20 second spot was to embarass Senator Biden. Same thing as the commentators fixating on Kerry windsurfing.
"Heh heh heh. He was naked..."
And in Afganistan. Where were you?
Eh. I'm spent. Please continue on in the comments.
