So after watching the Inferno II (a monday ritual during the school year), a new show that MTV is running called
Trippin' came on. I, being an environmentalist, decided to give it a chance and watch a little bit.
Now, here's the problem. I'm not saying that what MTV is doing is ridiculous. I'm not saying that they should stick to what they know or anything so incredibly arrogant like that. All I'm saying is that if MTV wants to run a show based around the themes of conservation and environmentalism, they should do it right. And their focus should start at home, not in exotic places.
I don't want to see a bunch of beautiful celebrities travel to beautiful places and spew toxic filth out of their mouth. How about you?
Here's the deal. If they care about the environment (and 5 will get you 10 they don't), they should focus on the environmental issues that directly affect their watchers every day. Wouldn't it be a neat thing to see Cameron Diaz, Kid Rock and Jessica Alba travel to Detroit or New Jersey and look at the environmental justice/air pollution/toxic waste problems of something in the United States? Don't you think that kids would be better equipped to deal with those kinds of environmental problems, instead of showing them places where they probably will never go and never be able to make a change in?
Wouldn't it be neat to hear a discussion from these same celebrities on what they personally could do to effect the lives of the poor that struggle with environmental concerns every day of their lives?
Or do we just want to look at celebrities in exotic places with DOLPHINS!
I'm not saying that MTV should eat it. I'm just saying that sort of environmental show would be a little more honest and a little less corporate.
