Some updates:
People can now contribute to a support fund for the detained young immigrant women at this link or by visiting Detainment the blog. So far, we've collected a few hundred dollars, but that's nowhere near the thousands of dollars (possibly tens of thousands of dollars) we're going to need to raise to assist these families with basic legal, housing, food, etc. needs.
Additionally, people in the Bay Area are now getting involved with some of this work. If you're interested in helping out, here's the info for the groups and the contact person:
Alliance of South Asians Taking Action (ASATA), American Muslim Voice, and some other folks are beginning to organize some work in the Bay Area to support A. and T. They'll be putting together a series of fundraisers and some efforts to link A.'s and T.'s situations to similar cases in their area. If you want to get involved, let Kasi from ASATA know.
You can see a more complete (but not full) list of organizations working on this issue at the blog.
