So, you are the Average American driving to work and you've been paying attention to this John Bolton business and all you're hearing is this... `the white house was issued a staggering blow yesterday'... `key Republicans did not back Bolton...' then you hear "But it will go to the Senate for a vote." And you think, OMG... I hope I don't miss American Idol tonight.
You would be thinking this, of course, because you don't expect anyone to stand up against the Republican juggernaut. Your ears have become accustomed to `and then the liberals are trying to usurp AMERICAN power by FILIBUSTERING GOOD PEOPLE!!!"
But wait, this Bolton is a scum... how will the right wing spin machine handle this? "Key Republicans" the news media has assured us, have refused to nominate the man.
No, you hear, in a boisterous but dispassionate tone (not that shrill whine the GOP has patented and threatens suit upon anyone that imitates)
WE CANNOT IN GOOD CONSCIENCE LET THIS MAN REPRESENT AMERICA TO THE WORLD. WE, AS A NATION, ARE BETTER THAN THIS MAN WHO CANT EVEN GET HIS OWN PARTY TO BACK HIM.
Average Joe tips his cup of coffee back on the express way... it takes him four more minutes before he wonders if he is going to miss American Idol.
Seriously, the white house got a roundhouse kick to the skull by this, a filibuster in the face of Frist would be the sudden nut slamming action right in the balls of the white house that would bring it down on its knees begging America to reelect weak GOP senators that couldn't even hold their own when their party controls ever part of the government...
But then, I fantasize about lots of things, so call me delusional (if you must).
