"Maj. Gen. Michael D. Rochelle, in a telephone interview, said the Army would most likely start its fiscal year this October with the smallest pool of recruits ready for boot camp in at least a decade. He said that by then, only 9.9 percent of the roughly 80,000 new active-duty soldiers the Army needs next year to replenish the ranks in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere were expected to be in the pipeline."
Not only have we stuck our troops in a meat grinder with no exit date, we are degrading the capability of our forces by lowering enlistment standards and use of questionable recruitment techniques. NPR reported this morning that the Army was changing its active duty requirement to 15 months active duty, then the balance of service would be in the National Guard or Reserve. Am I correct in thinking one could still be called up again from the Guard or Reserve?
