This Tuesday, a story came out saying there were some rather nasty security flaws in the last version of Firefox (1.0.3). These flaws revolved around JavaScript, and could potentially allow hackers (in the common parlance) to launch programs and code from your computer. (See the BBC NEWS article
here.
By the way, aside from this one instance, I've never seen anything negative said about Firefox's security. It's a great program, and Tabs are the only way to browse, particularly here at DKos.
More below the fold.
Firefox had the problem
corrected by thursday. You need to go download the latest (1.0.4) version in order to get the update. Just putting up a diary as a public service because I didn't see a report on the flaw or the correction here, just at the BBC NEWS site.
Go. Download. Upgrade.
I'm impressed with myself for getting the links right. Yay me!
Update [2005-5-13 14:17:17 by Tuffy]: Updated the diary to include the version number of the most recent update.
Update [2005-5-13 14:34:11 by Tuffy]: By the way, a point I forgot to mention is that there is a little up-pointing arrow in your browser near the top right corner of the window that tells you you need an update. If its ever red, you need to update. If it's blue or green, you can hold off if you feel like it. Right now, if you haven't already, you should probably click on it. Thanks to Easy B Oven below for the heads up.
