For the first time in my liberal life, I just wrote a check to a Republican candidate. Can't decide if I should feel dirty or not.
It's for the local Virginia House of Delegates Republican primary in June. Democrats don't have a chance in hell in the district so they're not even fielding a candidate in the general election. Thus, the primary is for all the marbles.
Conservative Republicans are furious with the incumbent, Ed Scott, because he defied the Party and voted for a tax package in 2004 which greatly benefitted education in the state. They've put forth some rabble rouser, outsider--heavily funded--to challenge Scott. I don't think he has a chance cause if there's one thing voters dislike more than Democrats in my district, it's outsiders. Just in case, though, and at the recommendation of the VEA, Scott is getting some dough from my wife and I.
If not for the VEA rec, I wouldn't have done it, but I'm still feeling a little torn. Would appreciate any feedback--negative or positive--from any of the dailykosian denizens. Thanks
