Now, I'm not an alcoholic, but I know we've had quite a few Kossacks come out, so I thought I'd see if I could do my part to help.
GoogleNews alerted me of a 'groundbreaking' Harvard Medical study of a certain herb that can 'cut alcohol consumption in half'. To learn more, take the jump.
Well, they say it is groundbreaking, but apparently the Chinese have been using this herb for more than 1600 years...so whada we know. Oh, and this herb, its actually a weed. Hey, maybe we'll be able to get it cheaper that way.
The weed is called kudzu, also known as 'the vine that ate the South' for the speed at which it grows.
The study suggests that:
herbal medication from the plant can cut alcohol consumption in half, by reducing cravings among alcoholics, binge drinkers, and casual or social drinkers.
Setting up an apartment-like laboratory equipped with a reclining chair, TV, and a refrigerator stocked with beer, Researcher Scott Lukas found that subjects who typically consumed 3.5 beers a sitting, cut it down to 1.8 beers in the same time frame after taking the kudzu pill.
Now, I wouldn't suggest you try this experiment at home if you're an alcoholic, but I hope the information is useful to at least one person on the site.
And thus ends my first diary...be kind.
