Wow, looks like we here at the DailyKos were schooled on the abortion issue today. Quite a learning process in a
thread spanning 750+ posts (as of this writing). However, we can boil down the lesson to a few key points:
- If you are a woman, abortion MUST be your main priority. It is the only issue that really matters. It must be you're litmus test for any and all candidates, be they Democratic or Republican. If not, you are actually an anti-choice woman, even if you say you are pro-choice but also care about other issues.
More education below the fold.
- If you are a woman, the only valid opinion to have on abortion is the current status-quo pushed by groups like NARAL, and we should not have a discussion about abortion. If you even think the issue is complex rather than cut-and-dry, you are actually anti-choice. Remember people, on the issue of abortion, there are no shades of gray.
- If you have a penis (are a man), and you don't agree with the above, you are misogynistic. You cannot have a valid opinion about abortion.
- If you have a penis (are a man), and do agree with #1 and #2, you are still misogynistic. Even if you think you are not a sexist, you are. You cannot have a valid opinion about abortion if you have a penis.
- If NARAL endorses a pro-choice Republican who is part of an anti-choice party, and if said Republican helps sustain a majority for the anti-choice Republican party, this should not even be questioned. Don't you see, it makes perfect sense?
To summarize: Abortion must be your
number one issue, and the only valid opinion to have is that of NARAL. If you disagree with this you are anti-choice. If you are a man it doesn't even matter, because you are
inherintly misogynistic and cannot have an opinion about abortion. Especially if you are a white man.
P.S. A couple of debating points:
- When talking to a woman who doesn't agree with you on this, refer to her as "anti-choice".
- If you must talk to a man about this, remember to use the word "misogynistic" at least once. If he's white, make sure to remind him of that.
