That makes two this week...earlier a Kiowa helicopter was shot down by "small arms fire" north of Baghdad...The latest aircraft shot down was not identified but was also shot down north of Baghdad and the fate of 4 US soldiers was unknown...Since I just got done reading the book titled "Charlie Wilson's War" about the congress and CIA arms escalation to feed the Mujahadeen insurgents in Afganistan against the Soviet Army. I can't help but think that what comes around goes around and some of our so called allies are secretly shipping anti-aircraft weapons to the iraqi insurgents to shoot down American aircraft...Maybe one aircraft would be a fluke but now two in the same week in the same general area? I think they have a new weapon...Let's face it there are many countries that have a real interest in seeing us in a failed quagmire in Iraq (i.e. Saudi Arabia, Syria, Iran, Russia, China just to name a few)...Thank god we can put political pressure on these countries to keep them from interfering...Oh wait we spent our politcal capital...Thanks BushCo...
Charlie Wilson's War is a great book, especially with respect to current events...Some memorable Lines and I'm paraphrasing 'an insurgency doesn't have to win any battles it just has to survive and it will win' and CIA Cheif Gust Agrakatos referring to Richard Pearle and Oliver North as 'fucking idiots' and 'off their rocker' especially when they thought that soviet soldiers would defect to the mujahadeen and form their own army that would turn around and fight their own country men if given a chance.
