I have decided to start training for another marathon. Don't think anybody here knows I have ever been a runner, but suffice it to say I've done a couple of marathons before and found training a great way to keep my mind off my troubles, and to find out what others are thinking.
You see, the easiest way, for me, has been to join a training group raising money for a charity, so I'm doing that again. (more below the fold)
The whole political situation has become, for all of us I think, very depressing. Physical activity is great for lifting depression, as we already know. So, the rationale, on that level, is obvious.
But maybe the best part of training is making new friends with different interests, and the opportunity to get a reality check, as well as to spread information that really isn't out there among the general populace-- even the generous-minded types who participate in charity marathons. (Thanks to the SCLM, of course.)
I fully expect and plan to recruit from among my fellow trainees some more Democratic Party activists, so that come time to devote myself full time (except for the day job) to politics again I'll be more fit, more relaxed, and ready for the fray-- and have a new crew to help out !
