I made the mistake of looking at the Washington Times when I stopped in at 7-11. Our friends the "centrists" are at it again. I guess the DLC wasn't enough, because we apparently have a
new group publishing
reports critical of the Democrats that only get picked up by conservative papers and blogs. It's the usual mishmash -- "if you only count white people, Democrats are losing the middle class!"
Apparently, though, the way to convince middle-class voters the Democrats are their best choice is to work to support a Republican bankruptcy bill and get lots of corporate sponsors!
If corporate membership is any key, the organization is off to a rousing start. Though it's barely out of the gates, the group has already recruited about 40 sponsors -- including such business stalwarts as the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the American Petroleum Institute, the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America, insurance giant AIG and BellSouth.

And furthermore, they have experience! They've run a moderate gun-control group that you've never heard of, and did you know they neutralized gun control as an issue in the 2004 election?
If you go to their website, there is, of course, no consideration of the idea that "centrist," industry-focused orientation might be a cause of the Democrats' ill fortunes, rather than the cure. With "friends" like these...
