RELIABLE SOURCES REPORT STRAYHORN TO ANNOUNCE FOR GOVERNOR ON SATURDAY
But no direct confirmation yet
Reliable sources tell QR that Comptroller Carole Keeton Strayhorn will announce her candidacy for the Republican nomination as Governor this Saturday.
We have not yet received direct confirmation from her campaign office but have enough confidence in our sources to run with this story.
Plans may change, but what we have confirmed are that calls are being made giving supporters a heads up about the pending announcement.

For those of you who do not know, this if reliable, is Big News for Texas. Carol Keeton Strayhorn, former Democrat turned Republican, former Railrode Commish and current Comptroller for the state of Texas has long been rumored to be considering a run for Gov.
The previous announcement of current Ag commish. Susan Combs that she will run for comptroller lends credence to this "rumor".
Strayhorn has been extremely critical of the Perry governorship and the current republican state congress for their cutting of social programs and their inabillity to adequatly fund education. She was extremely vocal about their moving of millions of low income children off the CHIP program.
This begs the question, what does this mean for a Baily Hutchison run for gov. Could this mean an anticipated open seat in the Senate is off the table, or could we be looking at a brutal three candidate primary for the republicans?
All very interesting, this could have both national as well as statewide consequences for Dems.
