"Some may believe that my remarks crossed the line," said the Illinois Democrat, at times holding back tears. "To them I extend my heartfelt apologies."
I disagree with his apology but respect his decision.
Ok, Durbin, apologized about his statement, so what? He didn't withdraw his factual comments about the torture, just that if his opinion had offended some people, he was sorry.
I know of some parents with kids in the military, who if not offended, were at least disturbed by these comments or how they were reported.
For crying out aloud, this man is an elected US Senator, unlike the most us.
While we might disagree with his apology, we have to honor that fact that he is going the extra mile not to offend well meaning people who may disagree with him, unlike the republicans who do not give a shit about what the other half thinks.
I like to think that the difference between "us" and "them" is "we" respect all points of views and care what others think, yes even red state loonies.....
We are better than them .............. . Lets calm down and focus our energies on things that matter.....
