All-righty kiddies for those of us who would take some satisfaction in seeing Bush & Co. take that long-overdue, well deserved impeachment walk on the plank for lying to the people and Congress about their premeditated war in Iraq* (say wasn't it Bin Laden and a whole bunch of Saudis, not Saddam Hussein who attacked us on 9/11?) while Bush & Co. attacks domestic social and economic justice, would the pale ass corporate loving Dems do any better? And hasn't old Bill been spending just a little bit too much effort in his love affair with Bush senior?
Bill Clinton No FDR, Role Model, But Bush & Co. Should Get Theirs

Check out "Republicans and Democrats, Hand in Hand, to Save Billionaires Boy Club on page 149 of the Best Democracy Money Can Buy by Greg Palast an author who is among the foremost investigative reporters in the western world. Maybe one side of Bill, possibly the corporate payoff side, actually comes through pretty good. After he all he may have been the best Democratic-Republican president we had. He signed legislation repealing the New Deal fire wall between banks and the insurance companies to prevent the growth of monopolies; he fired his surgeon general for mentioning masturbation while he was getting a blow job by Monica while also turning welfare back to the states to absolve the federal government from providing a little bit of social justice for the poor.
And while you are reading Best Democracy, check out Palast's take on why, on another 9/11 in history (this time 1973), we tried to overthrow Salvador Allende; it's in the chapter entitled "The Cola-Nut Coup: Pinochet, Nixon and Pepsi.
Speaking of September 11th on some levels coincidences may be more than just random from a karmic point of view. We have to learn from them; BTW Kos's birthday is also September 11th.
Further a little additional reading: Doris Kearns Goodwin's No Ordinary Time: Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt: The Home Front in World War II. Geez no wonder the Bush apparatchicks hate FDR; he helped save capitalism by using socialist methods to help the people. Bet that really ruins their golf games and martinis plus a little blow, er cocaine. They still hate FDR ... a traitor to his class!
Now, though, you can't just impose a model from the past on current developments; that's an insult to our intelligence which needs to reexamine the old and make adaptations to contemporary times with an eye on the future. Still if you had to pick between the robber barons and the New Dealers I think the choice for humanity is pretty clear ... after all we don't even have universal health care in America.
* don't forget the Bush & Co. main Iraqgate watchwords: War, Deficit, Stonewall, Cover-Up.
