Sociopaths can come from any social group, liberal or neo-con. I leave out old fashioned conservatives, because they seem largely absent from the political scene these days.
Does it not seem familiar, that the worst aspects of human nature should be cloaked in religion?
The BTK killer has confessed and surprise, surprise he's a church leader. Ain't it always the way.
President of his church council, Dennis Rader confessed today:

But how could this be? He was a "friendly and outgoing guy."

My point is not to disparage churches. I wrestle with God every morning, as Jacob did before God kicked his ass and called him Israel.

My point is that religion can be a cloak, actions speak louder than words, claims to affinity with God are just that: claims. They hold only as much water as any other words.
The human race can no longer take people who claim mandates from God at their word. We must ask more from them than testimony. We must be smarter than to believe people when they say, as George Bush did, "I trust God speaks through me."
