What will they think of next?
I live in Vermont, proudly the most anti Bush and most progressive State in the land. I am not an American. I come from Freedom, France. I had no intention of listening to the propaganda last night, knowing full well what nonsense was going to be spouted and decided instead to go out for dinner with my girl friend.
After dinner, I decided to pop into a big box electronics store and look at all the gadgets I dont need, but for some reason, desperately want. So there I was, standing in front of a new type of fridge with a TV screen imbedded in the door.
The TV was on and beaming its sparkling new technology, and as it happens, Bush was on spouting his nonsense. There were already five people standing around listening. Two were young men with a younger woman. Their short cropped hair made me think they may be military types. Another woman there was a sales person and the fifth was an older conservative looking man. And then there was me. I slided in, looking forward to hearing the views of my ready made, if not scientific, focus group.
I listened for about 30 seconds before the sales person piped up, "What an asshole!" Somewhat taken aback by her prescient view at her place of work, the two men started agreeing that he was the worst President in US history. The younger woman chimed in that he was a national embarassment and the conservative looking man shook his head and said that we needed to impeach him.
They all went their ways and left me there staring at the asshole who was the worst President in US history as well as a national embarassment, not to mention that he should be impeached, on the screen. I was stunned.
Now I know I live in the Peoples Republic of Vermont, but I was still stunned. How could it be that all these diverse people all agreed. There wasnt even a discussion. It was plain and simple. Hes a dick, move on.
The annoying thing is that I didnt have the time to chirp in my own opinion. They must have thought I was a republican!! Can there be any left?
The fridge was over priced, the speech was over touted and the President's period of second term grace is officially over.
