Two weeks ago, the media was full of stories about how Zarqawi went to Syria to plan attacks in Iraq. Here's how the AP reported it

"A U.S. official said Wednesday that Syria was the site of a key meeting last month in which al-Zarqawi lieutenants were ordered to carry out more attacks in Iraq. More than 520 people have been killed since the country's new Shiite-dominated government was announced April 28."
Of course, its turns out this story isn't true.

"WASHINGTON - (KRT) - U.S. intelligence has no evidence that terrorist Abu Musab al Zarqawi visited Syria in recent months to plan bombings in Iraq, and experts don't believe the widely publicized meeting ever happened, according to U.S. officials."
So where's the media outrage about this FALSE story based on a single government source that has been repeatedly used to drum up anger toward Syria?
Where's Glenn Reynold's absolute outrage about how the sins of the "liberal media"? How many times will he post about this FALSE AND SLANDEROUS story on Instapundit?
Where's Jeff Jarvis on this one? He certainly expressed his disdain for Newsweeks "incompetent and dangerous journalistic mistake" dozens of times on Buzzmachine in the past couple of weeks? Will Jarvis be demanding accountability for all of the media outlets that repeated the LIE told by an American official that made Syria look bad?
And where's Jay Rosen on this? Rosen doesn't post very often, but he went after the Newsweek/Koran story with a vengeance --- two posts specifically about the Newsweek/Koran story, and a third (the Kevin Drum one) related to it. Will Pressthink do three consecutive posts on the repercussions of this FALSE REPORTING BASED ON ANONYMOUS SOURCES?
Where, exactly, are these big-shot bloggers when the administration spreads flat out lies and propaganda that supports its agenda?
