New book: Average guy has slept with 17 women in his lifetime
While reading a DailyCandy e-mail, I clicked on the advertisement for a new book, When It Comes To Guys, What's Normal? by Bernice Kanner. And the big hook of the ad: the average guy gets laid by 17 different women in his lifetime. That statistic I don't find terribly hard to believe, considering there are a handful of men out there who probably drive the number way up, i.e. polygamists in Utah. The one I don't believe is that "92% have at least 10."
So what this statistic is trying to convince me is that the following groups compose only 8% of guys...
- fundamentalists who only sleep with one person in their lifetimes
- celibate clergy who actually stay celibate
- smelly nerds who don't get ass
- workaholics who claim they don't have enough time to get laid
- homosexuals (remember, it says "women," not "people")
- guys who haven't hit 10 by the time they get married, and don't cheat on their wives after that
In my humble opinion, this piece of nonfiction chick lit probably just doesn't get it. Maybe I'm being a naive female, but I just don't think it's likely that a full 92% of men get into the double digits. Thoughts?

PPS: I screwed up the poll by accidentally hitting "enter." Any way to modify/delete it?
