Wall Street Journal Editorial Author:
Did you read what you just wrote? Your conclusion defies logic and borders on malice. It was a good thing that Rove outed a secret agent whose job it is to protect me from death?! Political revenge can never be an excuse to make me less safe. I insist you stop your techniques of misinformation to save the face of a man who has so egregiously wronged America.
- The report did not discredit Wilson. His wife recommended his name, but she was unable to choose who went because she was not a division director. How can it be nepotism when the person who chose Wilson is not his wife? Also, you fail to mention that Wilson's years in Niger made him exceedingly qualified for the task. So when Wilson denied his Wife played a role in CHOOSING him for the mission, he was not lying. Stop your slippery word games.
- The report did not discredit Wilson because it came to the same conclusion. There was no credible evidence of WMD's. Stop your misinformation. Hiding critical details that undermine argument from those who are not fully informed is the same as lying.
- Maybe your British source did agree with Bush about WMD's, but so many other sources disagreed. Why didn't you cite them? Also, time has proven this man and Bush wrong. Stop insisting that there was evidence of WMD's when there wasn't.
- If the secret documents did not "enter the intelligence channels" (whatever that means) until after Wilson's trip, how did he know of them? He clearly did know of them, unless he is a clairvoyant, and he discredited them before anyone else.
Joe Wilson is our American hero. He is the champion of all those that have died in Iraq. Rove, alongside Bush, are complicit in the deaths and mutilation of tens of thousands of people. Death and mutilation that Wilson, the 911 report, the Downing Street Memos, hundreds of other experts, and time have proven to be unnecessary and unjustified. You, by spreading this misinformation, are also complicit. History will show who the true hero is.
Your desperation is transparent. Rove did an arrogant, illegal (very likely), and evil thing. Bush did an arrogant, illegal and evil thing by invading Iraq for no reason. The American people are finally catching on. You should be careful what you say because, before your very eyes, you are being be exposed for the charlatan that you are.
What if V. Plame was in the position to intercept knowledge of the London bombings? These are the things that covert agents do. Your misleading opinion column puts me in danger because it fallaciously justifies the destruction of the intelligence service that keeps me safe when I get on the subway.
How do you sleep at night knowing that you are making me, yourself, and every American less safe. For shame.
