I got (another) AFA email this morning to laugh over. But this time I decided to do an exercise. What if everytime I saw the word "homosexuals", "gays", or "lesbians" i put the word "black" and wherever they but "sexual orientation" or as the AFA seems to like to call it, "sexual behavior", i put race.
The results remind you of something out of the 1960s, I think:
New Bill Would Give One Group Protection Against Discrimination Based Solely On Their Race
Contact Your Rep. Today to Oppose H.R. 3128
Dear xxxxxxxxx,
A handful of Representatives are trying to pass a national law to give special treatment to a group of people defined solely by their race.
They have introduced legislation in Congress which would make it illegal to discriminate against this group. As you already have figured out, the group they want special treatment for is blacks.
During the Clinton administration, Special Counsel Elaine Kaplan--a black female--inserted "race" in the Office of Special Counsel guidelines despite having no authority to do so. This elevated race to a protected status such as sex or religion.
Scott Bloch, who now heads OSC, removed the word "race" because Congress had never authorized the addition. Pro-black leaders attempted to get Bloch fired, but failed.
Now these Congressmen, many of them blacks, are trying to change the law to include "race." Blacks are already protected against discrimination just as any other employee. What the Congressmen are asking for is special treatment for a group of people who can be identified only by the color of their skin.
