Oh, is Bill O'Reilly going to be pissed. The New Yorker has a great article
online that talks about Steven Colbert aka Ted Hitler and his new show
"The Colbert Report".
As Steven puts it himself -
"My ambition is to have Stone Phillips's neck and Geraldo Rivera's sense of mission."
Heaven help us. Steven is going to take on the likes of Bill "Loofa" O'Reilly and Sean "No Neck" Hannity. And we all know that it is not going to be pretty (for them).
The show is scheduled for an October launch.
"It'll be like O'Reilly segueing into Hannity, Hannity into Greta, Larry King into Aaron Brown, I love that Aaron Brown, the way he sucks the flavor out of every word, and I love the way he mulls. No one mulls the news like Aaron Brown."
Steven's main target is going to be Bill O'Reilly. Steven already knows what he has to do in the show to make it feel like Bill's.
"The focus will be me, lots of me"
Comedy Central is really taking a risk on the show, banking solely on the Daily Show's and Colbert's success. No pilots for the show were ever filmed. Steven sold them on the idea on his own merits.
So how will the show go? What ever grabs Steven for the day.
"Del used to say, `If you come across a rabbit hole, don't step around it. Jump down the hole! See where it leads.' "
Who's ready to jump down the hole?
