I was especially troubled today by Kos's posts about DLC lovin' going on in Columbus from one of the frontrunners in the '08 pack, Hillary Clinton. I felt compelled to do something about it... so I went and emailed her. If this kind of thing bothers you, I suggest you do the same.
What I wrote to her below the fold.
Other: Party Infighting
I really don't see how a group like the DLC would really represent a democrat like me, or most of mainstream America for that matter. I'm socially liberal, but also care strongly about energy independence and innovation, fair trade and a strong labor movement. By garnering such support from a group whose main constituency is corporate America, bodes poorly for any of these things happening. Supporting this group that regularly attacks grassroots members of it's own party I find highly disconcerting. Instead of carving up our base and driving them to the likes of Nadar like in 2000, shouldn't we be ignoring this group? The same group that's had a pretty dismal, losing record since it's prominence with your husband in the early 90's. The DLC's a small group of rich people. The grassroots dem's can outnumber and out donate a group like that if we feel candidates are behind us and our values, and not dollars. If we feel that we can really get behind a candidate and that change for the better in this country will occur, then we'll man the polls and work the streets. But not with this kind of group in the scene. Not with the kind of attacks it's made in the past. It's done most of the "shot firing" if you ask me, and if it continues, it will only weaken our party further. I will support you in '08. But how strongly, and how far I will go to promote your likely candidacy will depend on such things as this. Thank you.
