Last week the John "the clown" Gibson demonstrated his geographic skills by pointing out that Vacaville, Cindy Sheehan's hometown, was located near Berkeley and UC Davis. However the bouffanted baffoon should have paid closer attention to his map.
The irony is that Vacaville is a military bedroom community located near Travis Air Force Base. In fact many Vacaville residents are or have been stationed at Travis. During the Vietnam war Travis was the gateway airbase for Vietnam. For too many Americans Travis was the last piece of CONUS (Continental United States) they would ever see. Many of the dead and wounded would return through Travis. Others saw Travis as their first stop in the CONUS from a war they wished to forget.
