Okay, I could use a little help here.
I'm a folk musician in Gulfport, MS, and I've got a gig tomorrow night at a local Irish Pub. It occurred to me that it would be fun to write new verses for the old folk song "Cindy" referring to Camp Casey and sing them at the show.
Not long after I wrote a few, I quickly realized that the Daily Kos crew could probably do this even better. So I invite additional verses to this ditty, sung to the tune of "Cindy."
You ought to see my Cindy
Protestin' way down South
She wants to ask the President
"What's that come out your mouth?"
Chorus:
Stay the course, Cindy, Cindy
Stay the course, Cindy, Cindy
Stay the course, Cindy, Cindy
He'll talk to you one day
When Cindy lost her Casey
She thought that she would die
But now she's down in Crawford town
To ask ol' Georgie "Why?"
The president got angry
He took Cindy to task
Five weeks of peace and quiet now
Is that too much to ask?
She didn't start a riot
She didn't break the laws
She wants to ask the president
"What was that noble cause?"
They ran over her crosses
Fired shotguns in the air
Made fun of her on CNN
And shouted "We don't care!"
Now Cindy's got a posse
Yeah, Cindy's got a crew
And Cindy don't need Rush Limbaugh
To tell her what to do
Okay, that's what I've got so far. I know you guys can give me some more great verses. I'll try and post a recording of my favorites this weekend.
