"Last year, Chillicothe Mayor Joe Sulzer was active in the Democratic presidential bid of Sen. John Kerry. Now, he wants to join Kerry on Capitol Hill. Amid a group of supporters, Sulzer announced his bid for the U.S. House of Representatives in a mid-day press conference at the AMVETS Hall in Chillicothe today. He hopes to unseat Rep. Bob Ney, R-Heath, who has held the seat for a decade. "If the people of Ohio send me to Washington to represent them, I will make creating jobs for Ohio workers, fiscal responsibility for the country, and taking care of our troops and veterans my top priorities," Sulzer said at the press conference."
"The three main themes of Sulzer's announcement were fiscal responsiblity, getting U.S. troops out of Iraq and ethical behavior by Congress."
"Ney is considered vulnerable by the Democratic party, due to his connections to indicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has targeted his seat as one it hopes to win in 2006."
"Sulzer has twice been Mayor of Chillicothe -- from 2004 until now and previously from 1988 to 1997 -- and was state representative for Chillicothe and the surrounding district from 1997 to 2002. He also served on Chillicothe City Council for six years."
"Sulzer is an Army veteran and served during the Vietnam War -- from August 1967 to August 1968. He earned a bachelor's degree from Ohio University and was awarded a law degree by Capital University."

Thank you jj32!
Only one quick story was run by on the worst news station in the area, WTOV-9. And all of the local newspapers have failed to put anything in their papers. But then what do you expect from the Wheeling Intelligencer and worst of all The Steubenville Herald Star.
Obviously they don't talk about the Abramoff connections also.

I wonder if the real dirt comes out in this election, right Bob?
Anyone else have more information on Mayor Sulzer?
Sorry ....this is my first diary even though I swore I would never do one, I thought this was important, even if I do embarrass myself.
