By this point, we've seen a lot of politicians post on Daily Kos. Whether they're writing it or not, I don't know. Whether they're actually reading the comments or not, I don't know either. But I do know that they rarely engage the readers in the same way that the regular posters do. That's why I find Tom Vilsack so interesting.
Tom Vilsack's new leadership PAC has a website that is actually quite nice. It is basically a prettier but somewhat less advanced version of scoop, with diaries, ratings, nested comments, and so on. The thing is though - he actually uses it. Like, reads posts, and comments on them. When he finds one compelling, he'll even solicit more input on it.
Another aspect of the site I like is that no one has messed with the few grumpy Guses who have showed up. I know that's par for the course here (unless you talk about stolen elections, heh) but for a candidate to put up with some really ridiculous nonsense shows respect for free exchange that I think is a little lacking in the upper echelons of the party right now.
Anyway, check it out.
