On some other boards I frequent the Bush apologists have already started in on how Clinton is just as much to blame for NO as Bush, as he didn't do anything either.
At times like this I sometimes wonder if some type of basic intelligence test should be required of voters.
As the right is fond of pointing out, everything changed after 9/11. Even after a post-9/11 threat assessment listed New Orleans as a major disaster waiting to happen, either by natural forces or terrorism (a major target due to the oil facilities), the administration did less than nothing.
[more, including a musical number, under the fold]
I wrote the above paragraph in response, but then I realized that, like lemmings to the sea, the Bush PR machine instinctively attempts to shift blame.
No matter that when he said "I don't think anybody anticipated the breach of the levees. They did appreciate a serious storm but these levees got breached and as a result much of New Orleans is flooded and now we're having to deal with it and will," he provided iron-clad proof that he was, is, and, in all likelihood, will always remain completely and utterly clueless. Accept responsibility for our actions? That's simply not the Dubya way.
And in honor of that, I present the Bush Administration Anthem (to the tune of You'll Never Walk Alone):
When you walk through the press
Hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the facts.
At the end of the term is a golden 'chute
And the sweet silver song of Fox hacks.
Walk on through the mess,
Walk on through the muck,
Tho' your polls be tossed and blown.
Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart
For it's always Clinton's fault,
It's Always Clinton's Fault!
