Well, beware those who have reached their last straw. The camels back was broken this afternoon when watching Shrub lecture me on doing my part, as a citizen in the private sector.
I know Sen. Boxer has been a thorn in the side of this administration, and decided to unload my frustration in a letter telling her how angry this California taxpayer/voter is.
Many of you are better at expressing yourselves, and much in my letter has been said in various diaries and comments....but I just had to get this off my chest.
Letter below:
Dear Senator Boxer,
What is going on in my country? I know you have been watching the horrific aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, along with the rest of us. How could this country, with all it's wealth, knowledge, experience and disaster planning capability have so utterly failed, been caught so flat footed, in the aftermath of this hurricane?
How can those elected to represent us take the position that continuing to shoe shop (Rice), eat cake and strum guitar (Bush), hunker down in Wyoming (Cheney), and continue to vacation be the correct response to this disaster, of this magnitude, on our own Gulf Coast. Are they so out of touch then can not comprehend the level of need? The level of danger? The level of America's shame associated with this failure?
This response is nothing short of criminal! America was late to mobilize to help the tsunami victims, and is now, shockingly late to mobilize to help our own citizens. To watch these images on TV, without the ability to offer aid is heartbreaking. I've donated money, along with thousands of other private citizens. I don't need the vacationing President, 72 hours AFTER the fact to ask me to do my part, when he couldn't even deign to get himself off vacation, and back to the White House, to provide even a whiff of leadership! I did my part- how about you, Mr. President? Step-up and act like a President! You do your part! For once in your life-step up to the job!
The gutting of FEMA funds to shift them to the Department of Homeland Security, to make the charter of FEMA all but irrelevant is again, criminal! People are waking up to the sham of an administration we have in this nation. The rape of this country to the benefit of the wealthy, and corporations has got to stop.
Each crisis in this country, where this administration comes back to us with the retort "Who could imagine...." planes flying into buildings? (Rice), levees breaking? (Bush). What? That is exactly what we pay our elected officials, our federal government to do, on our behalf........think about how to keep us safe....! People in this country can and do imagine all this, and much worse as their future.
Please, as my Senator, I ask you to represent all of us in this state, and this country, and DEMAND answers, INSIST on answers, and most importantly ACCOUNTABILITY from this administration. Get to work for us, please!
Thank you!
Not the most eloquent of posts, but I had to do something more, and this helped.
