Recently out on the AP is
this report that the 9/11 Commission has rejected Crazy Curt Weldon's claims that law enforcement had identified Mohammad Atta as an al Qaeda agent inside America long before 9/11. "'Bluntly, it just didn't happen and that's the conclusion of all 10 of us,' said a former commissioner, ex-Sen. Slade Gorton, R-Wash."
Perhaps more interesting is the Commission's report, also released today, on the progress made on each of the Commission's 14 recommendations for improving our nation's preparedness. It's a trim little 10-page document, you might want to have a look.
There are an awful lot of "Minimal Progress" and "Unsatisfactory" judgements in there, and many of the areas cited as needing and not getting improvement tie directly into the Katrina debacle. It seems a damaging document for BushCo to me.
