sorry I read all these entries in the energy dairies on how we all know from the 1970ties how bad fuel consumptionn is and that we should change our behaviour and blah, blah blah, but really it is an old hut and we know the arguments and anyhow, nothing happened in the last 30 years and they did say 30 years ago everybody would have a plane and be able to fly to the moon by themselves and that didn;t happen so why should I worry now. I live, drive my car and everything is fine, why should I worry? la la la lalalalalal la
Sorry, but could you please listen to the argument for a moment?
Peak oil, a reality or not, globall warming a reality or not (I believe both to be true), it is irrelevant if you agree on either of these points.
The only thing that matters is, in order to pass on the world to your great grand children you have to save the world first. And saving means conserving, preserving, consuming less, recycling, sharing. And what if you would have been able to give it to your great grand children since the 1970ies, that does not mean they don't have the same duty!
It should be good practice, not a demand, it should be our second nature, not something enforced, it should be NORMAL, not boring. It makes sense, it is fun and it is enjoyable.
And above all, there IS an urgency about it. I don;t need that motivation to attempt and do my part. but it helps, if you are feeble minded to have the common good pushed on you and force you, by social pressure, or higher taxes, to save.
So, energy policy is not boring! it might rehash the arguments from 1970, so? the Golden Rule is centuries old and is both, still relevant and not fully established.
