It is lunacy to allow a president who never had real majority, who now has a 42% or lower approval rating and who has severely screwed up everything he has ever touched to decide for each and every American the direction of the Supreme Ct, for the next 30 plus years.
George W. Bush has affected our lives very negatively enough already and we owe it to all of America to stop him, regardless of what the implications will be. This is much too important a job for such a monumental failure of a person. Look at his choices for important positions thus far. They are either hand picked by Jerry Fallwell, Pat Robertson and Ralph Reed or they are "inept buddies" just like the president himself.
History would treat us like fools if we bury our heads in the sand for this one. Right wing ideologues will overturn Roe v. Wade, will set us back decades on stem cell research and will make decisions to the detriment of most Americans but lauded by big business. This is something we will not allow to happen.
They really have to get tough and put Lieberman, the Nelsons, Landrieu and the other traitors in a box and get unified on this. This could help them grow real backbones.
The downside, I don't see any. We have to stop this conservative tide once and for all and we will never do it without standing up to the Republicans and exposing them as the selfish lying pigs they are.
Democrats and the media have to tell Americans that even though Nagin and Blanco were overwhelmed by the hurricane, a man who is elected president of the United States has to be able to deal with those kinds of problems, or else, who needs a federal government. So far, George W. Bush makes a very good case for secession.
I'm embarrassed to call myself a Democrat that can change tomorrow but right now I am embarrassed as hell.
