Hon. Arnold Schwarzenegger
Governor
State of California
State Capitol
Sacramento, CA
Dear Governor:
I never thought I could ever identify with, never mind agree with, a so-called "one-issue voter." But, low and behold, something unexpected and historic happened last week.... an act of courage by state legislators passed a bill acknowledging and respecting same-sex couples and their families.... MY FAMILY!
For the first time in my life, I finally understood my god-fearing, loving aunt, who would forsake her "favorite" nephew to vote for Bush because he alledgedly protected the life of unborn children. She loves me unconditionally, but would forsake me to vote for GWB if it would save an unborn fetus.
I now understand the depth of feelings and hold myself out now as a "one-issue voter." If any candidate, if any GOVERNOR, has the courage to acknowledge and support my family by signing the Marriage Equality Bill, I give my unequivocal support, financial or otherwise, in the next election.
Arnold, I understand you want a second term. I have disagreed with everything you have said and done for the last 6 months. I wont vote for your flawed ballot initiatives, but I will offer my unequivocal financial and electoral support if you can find the courage and conviction to sign the marriage bill.
No questions, no excuses.. just a clean deal. Gay support in Nov 2006 in exchange for a shot at civil equality. What do you say? No conservative can beat you in the primary.. and gay Californians on your side will deliver a big block in Nov 2006.
Let us know if you are interested.....
