I have friends who live in New Orleans and the MS Gulf Coast. Thankfully, I know they are okay, though they have lost everything. I have been to the region three times in the last 2 1/2 years, to visit my friends. And the images I am seeing is that of total and complete devastation of what I have grown to know and love. Heads must roll. I have never felt just such an intense anger towards the president. Sorry, I wish we actually HAD a president, rather than a Marie Antoinette. We have grounds for criminal negligence.
The president's inaction here is so over the top, so deplorable, that I consider him criminally negligent. I am a law student, so I thought, what the hell, why not look up what criminal negligence is, to double check...
: a gross deviation from the standard of care expected of a reasonable person that is manifest in a failure to protect others from a risk (as of death) deriving from one's conduct and that renders one criminally liable
(called also culpable negligence)

Let's see...what is the typical standard of care that a president has towards the citizens of America...to me that standard includes doing everything within their power to ensure the citizens are safe. This president has done exactly the opposite.
1) Our troops are fighting over in Iraq in a false and illegal war - so they are not available here to help out in NOLA/MS.
2) The slashing of the levee budget
3) Not being on hand to direct FEMA operations and the search and rescue mission. Instead, partying with John McCain.
4) Waiting days to send out troops to help people
5) Not coming up with any sort of plan to evacuate the city
6) Not reconvening Congress in time to fund things.
7) Looking to slash the estate tax at a time when charities need more funds than ever before
8) Spending precious time in press conferences rather than actually on the ground, helping organize the search and rescue
9) Allowing his staff to be roaming about the country, not on hand to help out. Where is Cheney, anyway?
10) Slashing FEMA's budget
The list goes on and on and on and on.
We do not have a president, we have a mockery. We have a little puppet pretending to be a big man.
This man has led to the deaths of countless thousands. He needs to be impeached and JAILED.
I know this will not happen. But I am just saying, in a just world...it would.
I don't know where my friends will be living. I don't know whether they will be able to continue to put food on their table. And they are lucky - they are alive.
This president has no shame. For a supposed Christian, he has no humility.
I have been holding back the tears and vomit, as the horror stories continue to flood in. If there is any good coming from this, it's that the MSM has finally been asking some tough questions. Maybe...it just takes a national disaster on this magnitude to make the country wake the fuck up.
Meanwhile, we don't have a (semi) elected president anymore. We have Queen Antoinette at the helm. While New Orleans is under water, riots, fire, and mayhem, the president has basically told these people to go eat cake.
I have never seen such a disconnect in my life. The man is a mockery of a human being.
