Yesterday, someone posted asking about going to the best law school possible versus going to a lower cost law school, with the goal of becoming a public interest lawyer. I can't find the diary, unfortunately, but yesterday afternoon, I received Boston University, where I got both my degrees (and, if I recall correctly, Kos is an alum as well!). I hope a program like this (on extended entry) helps you in your goals:
BOSTON UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF LAW LAUNCHES MAJOR PUBLIC INTEREST INITIATIVE
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yesterday, Boston University School of Law (BUSL)
Interim Dean Maureen A. O'Rourke announced that
the School has launched a major initiative aimed at
enabling more students to pursue careers in public
interest. A key component of the program includes
an infusion of more than $500,000 from the School to
its Loan Repayment Assistance Program (LRAP). This
contribution pushes the total amount of the endowed
funds to $1 million. The LRAP provides grants to BUSL
graduates to help them repay student loans while
they pursue careers in public interest or government.
At this increased level of funding, the LRAP will be
able to provide between $30,000 and $45,000 in
total grants yearly. The School hopes to continue to
build funding in the LRAP with an eventual goal of
expanding the program to provide for long term loan
forgiveness. With this and other programs, BUSL
reaffirms its commitment to upholding the highest
principle of the legal profession and public
responsibility, which is to make a difference in the
world through service to others. We would also like
to recognize the generosity and support of all BUSL
alumni and friends who helped us make this increase
in the level of LRAP funding possible.
