So it's the night before Air America's national launch of a "liberal" talk radio network, featuring as regular hosts (among others) a bonafide movie star and a comedy writer whose career includes one of the most influential comedy shows television ever produced, as well as a book that has been at the number one spot for most of the past six months or so. So if I click on Air America's website, what do I get?
BUPKIS!
Last week, they had six or so pages they threw together from their web hosting services pre-designed generic templates. No photos, no logos, no freebies, no updates. A list of radio stations that claimed San Francisco's affiliate was "TBA" up until yesterday.
Today, they don't even have that - they got ONE PAGE up - no photos, no logos, no freebies, NO SCHEDULES, NO WORKING LINKS OF ANY KIND - oh, and San Francisco's station? Still "coming soon."
The complete and utter lack of promotion is bad enough, but it's obvious from this these guys are completely oblivious as to the much-vaunted "power of the Internet" (though someone must've clued them in somewhere along the line, since they're gonna be showcasing Kos and Atrios - but since they're both on Garafolo's show, maybe that's just her group getting it together).
Oh, and another thing - I signed up for their "email alert" thing weeks ago. They're debuting tomorrow. Have I gotten an email from them about it? Have I gotten an email about their network AT ANY TIME SINCE I SIGNED UP?
Well, I certainly sent THEM an email! But I gotta wonder if they even know how to use their damn Outlook...
