I think that Democrats in the House should call for a new tax -- a specific assessment on households with a market value over one million dollars in cash, bonds, or publicly-traded stock, with the money raised to be spent solely on necessary military equipment for soldiers deployed in an area of combat.
Call it a "Wealth Tax for Body Armor."
My reasoning is threefold.
First: the tax would be on the wealthiest americans, who are a small percentage of the country. They can goddamn afford to pay.
Second: the Democrats would be able to say that they are actively supporting the war by trying to get armor for the troops.
Third: The Republicans would need to make a tough decision: either vote FOR A TAX INCREASE or vote AGAINST THE TROOPS.
What do y'all think?
