I at first couldn't figure out why nobody was commenting on the The Note this morning. (President Carter's so-called "Malaise Speech" to be channeled by President Bush in a planned speech today, according to a Note "exclusive".)
To be certain, I Googled Carter's speech too and in re-reading that one was struck again by the absence of anything resembling serious discourse in politics today.
So maybe that's why nobody's talking. Instead, the ironies are so abundant that we just need to contemplate for awhile.
The joke wasn't all that funny anyway.
