A video game? Complete with Joe Lieberman and Hillary Clinton waxing about the corruption of America's youth?
No.
A felony. Along with a cocaine possession charge.
The perp? One James Francis Fiorello, in custody in St. Johns County, Florida, on August 24, 2005. (Ref.
St. Augustine Record (free registration required.)
Who: James Francis Fiorillo, 28, Palm Coast. Charge: Grand theft of third degree-- motor vehicle, possession of cocaine. (SJCSO)
So how is a small-time mope who was busted in North Florida going to wind up taking down some big fish? Admittedly, this depends somewhat on the art of conjecture, but Mr. Fiorillo was one of three who were taken into custody on murder charges today. The crime: gangland style slaying of Konstantinos "Gus" Boulis, a South Florida fast food entrepreneur who tried his hand in off-shore gambling out of Miami, and had the misfortune of taking Jack Abramoff as a partner. (But you're all familiar with that story by now, right?)
So what's an at-the-time 24 year old snot-nosed punk doing with two big-timers - sexagenarian Gotti associate Anthony "Big Tony" Moscatiello and Anthony Ferrari (mid-forties) of North Miami Beach? Honestly, I'm not really sure, but I suspect we'll find out soon. (Though not soon enough for my taste.)
Mr. Fiorillo has a problem. He was in custody a month ago. Now he's busted on a murder rap, along with two guys who are likely "protected". I'm guessing if he's got life insurance, the policy has been cancelled. It's possible he's already flipped, and is the reason law enforcement could make the bust. Even if he didn't, though, it sure looks like he did. That's a real problem, and any competent prosecutor should be able to flip him quickly, unless he'd prefer to shuffle off this mortal coil.
The deal? Sure, it's not attractive. It's gotta be hard to leave your family and your friends. (The ones who don't want to put one in your head and one in your heart, anyway.) But if he's developed a fondness continued existence, life somewhere west of Minot, ND, isn't going to look nearly as bad. Figure him to be "disappeared" real soon, one way or the other.
