Software developers at Perfect Order based in Mechanicsburg, PA. have created a Website for use in trying to locate people missing after Hurrican Katrina. There is
no charge to use this site
Refugees United
and privacy protections are built in.
More below the fold:
"We've been following the disaster on the news and thinking of the magnitude of the people displaced," said Bill Hathaway, a solutions architect at Perfect Order. "There are a few other, sporadic sites offering this, but we wanted a purpose-designed site."
The site has sign-up forms for people trying to find someone and for people looking to be found. In the near future the site will also enable people to post "have you seen" queries and other types of questions.
Hathaway said he and 4 other software developers started work on the Web site about 9 am Thursday and had it on the Internet yesterday morning.
Similar sites have been posted on the Internet, but the Perfect Oder site appears to be the "purest" one, devoted only to people missing as a result of the hurricane.
Please pass this information on so people know there is something out there to help find people missing in the Gulf Coast region.
