Perhaps we'd all be better off if this cluster of criminals and incompetents would stick to FINGERPAINTING.
The putrid flood of talking points emminating from the Cheney-Rove cespool of lies is presenting, "This is not the time for fingerpointing" as their PR spearhead. However, the Bush Administration is actively pursuing a campaign of blame against all of the local and state authorities involved in the crisis.
This pattern is a transparent transplant of their policy of claiming support for the troops and then prosecuting (persecuting?) troops to avoid accountability for rampant prisoner abuse. So, eihter these guys reign over a network of broken systems everywhere or they betray their constituents and dependents as it becomes convenient.
Now, as the President, the White House, the head of Homeland Security and the Cheny-Rove PR machine are clearly demonstrating (by blaming local and state personnel) - IT IS TIME TO IDENTIFY THE WEAKPOINTS IN OUR DISASTER RELIEF SYSYTEMS!
If in this process, fingers are pointed at individuals or organizations, then perhaps those being pointed at can try to bear up under the pressure. After all, Americans are dying today and will continue to expire over the coming days, stuck in sweltering attics and succumbing to thirst, hunger, infection and disease. It is not too much to ask that men and women look to themselves and their fellows and determine how our disaster relief can improve.
It is as if the Administration believes that their employees are too delicate to withstand having their feelings hurt. They may be responsible for the torturous deaths of hundreds or thousands of Americans, yet our President claims that there is no cause for their actions to be examined.
Our White House is projecting callousness, fear and weakness to us and to the world.
I wonder how intimidating "Bring it on" now sounds to Osama Bin Laden.
Let us all contact our local and state elected officials and demand accountability for the disastrous disaster relief. Point the finger right back at the White House, the Department of Homeland Security and FEMA.
