I am a long time member of DailyKos and used to publish a blog on Alabama politics before taking a position with the Alabama Democratic Party as Communications Director.
The Alabama Democratic Party has started a blog (http://aladems.net) as a small part of our effort to use new and proven tools to energize the grassroots of our party. Our blog primarily revolves around Alabama news and developments, but will not hesitate to call out national Republicans either.
2006 is the most important election cycle in a generation in Alabama. Over 700 state and local races will be on the ballot. Though most people know Alabama as a "red state", Alabama Democrats still have solid majorities in the state legislature and among most county offices (sheriff, probate judge, etc.). Of course Republicans are going to spend a lot of money and throw a lot of mud to try and change that fact.
However, Democrats are also on the offensive. The Democratic party will field a strong ticket up and down the ballot and has a great shot at picking up seats currently help by GOPers at all levels.
Please visit our site (http://aladems.org) and new blog (http://aladems.net) and contact us if you want to get involved in the newly energized Alabama Democratic Party. Alabama may be considered a "red state" by many, but our blue roots are going to be showing more than ever in 2006!
