Even though the client always takes the stand in "Law & Order," the client almost never does in a real trial. Every attorney would agree that the client should shut the @#$% up and let the lawyer do all the talking.
All the talking.
Which brings us to George W. Bush, a moron's moron. As much as I detest hearing him stumble through the canned "speeches" that are supposed to convince us that Iraq was a good idea, I can't wait to hear him talk about the NSA, FISA, and the Constitution. I want him to talk for hours about this stuff, and I will hang on every word.
I think we are approaching GWB's "I am not a crook" moment.
Since he has never been one to take a lot of advice, if he is beng told to keep quiet about the NSA data-mining, he is ignoring good advice.
I love it. No only is this guy too stupid to understand the events he is directing, he is too stupid to understand the mechanics of the surveillance activities he has ordered or the reason they are unconstitutional. So he says what he thinks, but because his actions are clearly illegal and because he doesn't do a lot of critical thinking, he contradicts himself all over the place. (Despite the limited expertise of the White House legal staff, someone there must be messing his pants.) Then Bush lets Scott McLellan attempt to clean up the elephant poop with non-responses to questions. (Someday Scott is going to eat a gun in front of the Press Corpse.)
George is getting boxed in with his own words, and every attempt to extricate himself with a "more complete" explanation of what the NSA is doing only digs the hole deeper. The real explanation is of course that the NSA data-mined all communications within reach, and that is a violation of the Constitution that even some of his "base" (certainly not all) can understand. Bush's megalomania seems to have advanced to the point where he thinks he can explain this away.
Sooner or later, George is going to claim that he isn't a crook, which was for Nixon the moment that everyone realized that he was. Set your TIVOs. You will want to watch this one over and over.
