An interesting story from
USA Today. Country Music Star Tim McGraw has stated his intention to run for governor of TN sometime in the future(not this year, since an incubment Democrat is running). I guess this isnt earthshattering news or anything(I didnt add a breaking). It is rare, however, to see an openly Democratic country music star.
"I think it's something I'd do well," McGraw, who is a Democrat, tells the February issue of Esquire magazine (on stands Monday). He announced his plans to run for governor of Tennessee someday. "I just think as governor of the state, there would be a lot more opportunities to make some decisions and change some things."
His wife, Faith Hill, is also a Democrat. Both gave money to the DNC last year. They also appeared together on "Earth to America", a special designed to promote global warming awareness, which was produced by Larry David's wife Laurie, and featured a lot of left leaning celebrities. A lot of people are split about celebrities taking political roles(hasnt worked well in California). But, I dont think it's necessarily a bad thing. I mean all politicians need to start somewhere, and if Tim thinks he can make a difference and has a clear platform, go for it. And if Lance Armstrong runs as a Dem, imagine him and Tim McGraw on a presidential ticket! Right, there we win back the south. :)
