Look, I realize with Idaho senators like Larry "Creepshow" Craig and Mike "yeah, my name really is" Crapo, I have very little room to complain about other states' representatives. But since Montana is like a second home to me, and they're an up-and-coming-soon-to-be Blue state with a kickass Guv, I have to ask:
What the hell is Sen. Max Baucus (supposedly D-MT) thinking?!?
U.S. Senator Max Baucus, the top Democrat on the powerful Senate Finance Committee, said Friday he supports the outsourcing of white-collar jobs to low-wage countries such as India - a position at odds with his party's traditional stance on the issue.
Baucas insisted a majority of fellow Senate Democrats agreed with him, despite the party's longtime opposition to American companies moving jobs overseas.
"Everybody is concerned about job losses and so am I," he told The Associated Press in an interview in Bangalore, his first stop on an five-day tour of India.
"But the world is flat and we must work harder to better retrain our people," rather than resist outsourcing, he said. "Offshoring is a fact of globalization. Opportunities for U.S. companies come from everywhere - including India."
I'm tempted to toss up a poll asking A) Is this a good idea, B) Is this a bad idea, C) Is Sen. Baucas higher than the International Space Station?, D) Is Sen. Baucus out of his fucking mind? or E) Let me be the first to say to our Pod People Overlords: AAAAAAAUUUUUUUGGGGGHHHHH!!! but the X-files division of the NSA thinks that would be a bad idea.
There are so many wonderful Democrats and Progressives in our country, and they far offset the few assholes you inevitably find. But why do so many of the assholes run for and win office?
