John Maclaughlin (sp?), of all people, brought up something I've been trying to find the answer to for the last few days...Did Alito actually belong to CAP? There seems to be no actual evidence of it. Therefore he flat out lied about it on his job application. While it's no surprise that he lied about anything, aren't there consequences to lying to the DOJ, no matter how trivial? Everybody seems to just blow off the question as, well of course he puffed up his resume, but isn't lying an altogether different fish?
Another thing, I've been trying to remember but this holding the ABA in such high regard as relates to their rating candidates. Wasn't it Bush in the early days who decided NOT to consider their opinions? If not Bush, then who was it? Quite the insult at the time...
